Our family of 12 had a most wonderful late lunch last Sunday. We provided them with a pre-order and each and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed their 3 courses. The quality of the meats and fish were of the highest quality and the service was...More

Excellent food and friendly service. Could have stayed all afternoon! Really good value. Excellent overall
Went in for pre booked Sat lunch. Quiet which after being there is a real surprise. Totally Covid safe compliant, excellent staff and the food is amazing value and quality. I rarely give 5 stars but was left with no choice. Steak and Ale pie to die for!

Fantastic takeaway service
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Frank and Carol for looking after my partners Mother over the last few weeks. They have been providing takeaway meals on a regular basis, all of which have been great quality. Just what is needed for...More

I booked Green's to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday with family and friends (30 of us in total). From start to finish - Carol and Frank were friendly, willing to help and answer any questions. They provided a delicious menu (that also included Vegan option) and made us all feel so welcome on the night,
In the lead up to the party, my husband and I had visited Greens on a couple of occasions (Mothering Sunday for lunch with family and also a lunch for just the two of us) both of which were fantastic, so we knew we would be in for a treat on the night. The evening went without any issues, in fact, it was just brilliant!
On the day following the birthday meal I was inundated with messages from our guests saying how much they had enjoyed the food, had a wonderful evening, great atmosphere and also complenting the staff at Greens (who were all so polite, friendly and helpful).
Suffice to say we will be back and I would certainly advise anyone to consider Greens for their celebrations!

Not many restaurants operate like this any more.... demonstrating a high standard of service, attention to detail, producing good quality dishes. I cannot believe this place has been on my list for so long yet last night was the 1st night that I actually visited. I had the Rump of Lamb with Aubergine puree and dauphinoise potatoes, my husband had the Ribeye Surf and Turf with garlic and chilli prawns with triple cooked chips and a to die for peppercorn sauce. The chef here clearly cares about every dish and that came across in the tenderness of the meat, the depth of the sauces and the size of the portions - which were not huge, but equally not tiny. We had the pigeon breast to start with which has an apple and celeriac slaw underneath it with a raspberry/balsamic sauce dotted round the plate.... the flavours were refreshing and light - perfect for a starter. Butter on the table (anyone who knows me will understand this is a big issue for me) - was curled beautifully and at the right temperature for spreading! Yippee - something so many restaurants fail to understand? Lord knows why! The atmosphere was cosy and inviting. We shall most definitely be returning.
Visiting from Australia and went there with some friends who lived locally. Great position on the corner of the old market square where there was plenty of free parking after 5:00pm. The title of restaurant and bar is correct, there was both there with the emphasis on the restaurant but with a bar for pre-dinner drinks.
Tables were nicely spaced out and laid out for a meal with wine giving a very warm and comfortable feel. There were nightly specials in addition to the the broad menu and a good wine menu as well.
Our meals were lovely, the service prompt and friendly. It was a great place and everyone throughly enjoyed the evening.
It was a first class restaurant that we would certainly go to again.
"Meeting with school friends"
Our six monthly meeting to catch up on old school friends. Very good food, especially the fresh fish from the "fish man" in the market square cooked as you like it by Greens. Comfortable restaurant with plenty of space for quiet conversation. Good choice of beers and excellent service.
Thank you so much! - Tim Wilson
We went last minute for a Sunday lunch. The food was absolutely delicious.. my family all agreed it was as close to a home made roast we have ever had when eating out. The beef was so tender. The vegetables were well seasoned and the potatoes lovely and crispy. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for, the ice cream was so creamy it was amazing. The lemon biscuit with the bruleee.. I would have bought a packet of them if they sold them!
The staff... they were a credit to that restaurant. The young lady behind the bar was so welcoming and very 'aware'. The young lads who served us were so polite and attentive .. such nice waiters. We go out a lot to eat in and around London and they could learn a lot from this polite young team in this restaurant !! Well done.. we will be back.
I arranged my wife's 60th birthday dinner (ten of us including four kids and their partners!) for Friday 9 June at Greens on recommendation of a good friend. From the second we arrived until the second we left we were made to feel welcome. Greeted with champagne and canapes - which were lovely - we sat at a lovely long table and were waited on by a young man and a young women who were exemplary in their service. Ordering from the a la carte menu, starters were wonderful but the real jewel in the crown is their main fish dishes. Their hake and their sea bream were simply beautiful, quite possibly the very best i've had locally. Desserts were aplentyful and coffee's to finish were served with a birthday cake and sparklers to finish the occasion.
Thank you Greens, we are converts and will be back again and again and again
